CELEBRATING NANCY
Nancy Louise Marshall 1958-2012
Nancy
inspired everyone she encountered with her generous spirit and
boundless energy, her inimitable style and her absolute dedication to
seizing the moment. She joyously pursued her passion for Shakespeare and
musical theatre while creating a singularly adventurous and beautiful
life. Nancy was, above all else, and amazing and adored friend. An
accomplished director, actor and playwright, she took special pleasure
and pride in her annual musicals she directed for more than 20 years at
Queen Elizabeth High School and Sacred Heart School in Halifax. Her
influence on a generation of young Haligonian performers resonates
throughout the Atlantic Canadian theatre community and beyond. Nancy's
involvement in theatre spanned a career of more than 30 years. Her most
recent achievements including producing, directing and acting in Hamlet
at the Bus Stop Theatre , co-writing and directing the premiere
performance of Out of Lunenburg (Spatz Theatre), and directing a a sold out run of
Back-to-Back Bennet. Donations may be made to Citadel Theatre Society.
A
memorial fundraiser and event is being planned in the coming months to
bring together past students and friends of Nancy Marshall. If you are interested in being involved please email spatztheatre@gmail.com
The Storytellers Creed
I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge
I believe that myth is more potent than history
I believe that dreams are more powerful than facts
I believe that hope always triumphs over experience
I believe that laughter is the cure for grief
and I believe that love is stronger than death.
